Coupon Scams

I used to think coupons were a scam. Now that I'm broke, this belief is quickly being re-evaluated.

To be more precise, I still do think discounts are poor business practice. As Elon Musk and Apple show, you want people to pay a premium for your product, whether that product is an iPhone, a car, or a small $30 Grok Bot rather than the $20 Claude Code subscription.

The underlying premise I didn't see clearly is encapsulated by Meg Jay's Defining Decade, which I've written about before. I felt my 20s should be adventurous and I undervalued the benefits of stability, family, traditional life milestones.

I think the United States as a Whole will come to be more about traditions than ever before, even as AI, politics, and SpaceX make us re-evaluate what it means to be humans hurtling towards a more advanced civilization as math and science get automated.

I spent most of October imprisoned in Las Vegas then depressed and eating many tubs of ice cream. I gained at least 10 pounds of body fat, and we haven't even hit Halloween treats yet!

Oh well, time to get fit. Starting with a trip to the local spa for a massage.

Yes my girlfriend and I will be going and paying as separate clients, even though we prefer to do things as a couple. The referral discount is too attractive given my tight budget for everything outside of rent right now.

Constraints breeds resourcefulness, even in an old dog like me who has trouble learning new tricks.
