Forgot To Blog
On Sunday, I forgot about blogging completely. From waking up to sleeping again, it did not enter my mind once. Otherwise I certainly would have published something.
Last week started more type-happy than normal. At one point, I had five posts queued and ready. This surplus allowed me to relax over the weekend, slightly too much. I had fun hanging out with my cousin Keven and his business partner Seth.
We planned their visit a month ago. Then I took extra trips to LA and San Diego, in addition to Thanksgiving in South Carolina. I don't have strong routines in general, but hosting this stay-cation on top of the rest knocked me far off-center.
I realized my mistake immediately upon waking up at 5:45am to take them to the airport. For a moment, I considered pushing out a post by 1:59pm. Should I fill the gap 12 hours after my normal schedule, make things seem like a clerical error rather than negligence?
The brain has a mind of its own. Stepping in the direction of mental weakness allows it to run rampant. Am I a failure? Should I just get a job, shut up, and stop blogging completely?
It took a full day of being a hermit to recover. I did some laundry—which is still on the floor waiting to be put away—and that's about it. After typing this I will continue watching anime, stuffing my face, and avoiding all chores until I fall asleep.
I will never be able to take back my complacency, but I can take responsibility and learn from it. Life goes on. I had a good three month streak and will fine-tune my semi-routines going forward.
Tomorrow, it's back to work.
