Asynchronous People Search
Blogging is actually googling for friends.
If you read 20 books in a row from your favorite author, you'll probably end up finding their next live signing or at least emailing them a short "thanks - love your writing!" It might take a few years, but gravity is at work.
I recommend blogging for yourself first. Because once you do that enough, you'll notice a cool side effect. People want to hear from you.
Who are these people? The ones your writing resonated with, enough to elicit replies.
The more you blog yourself to the world, whole and complex and replete with your personality, the more narrow you can get in your replies.
It's OK to receive radio silence for a few years. Keep playing, just have fun with it! The key is to publish more posts. Append lots of parameters.
You'll naturally refine your writing later to say things that matter, with intentionality.
Why aim broad or big, when you can have relevant to you?
